Public Health

Public health is "the science and art of preventing disease, prolonging life and promoting health through the organized efforts and informed choices of society, organizations, public and private, communities and individuals"

(1920, C.E.A. Winslow)

Whereas medicine treats the health needs of an individual, public health deals with the health requirements of society as a whole. It is now well understood that matters such as sewage amenities, cleanliness and a balanced diet affect enormously the health of the population.
Middle East is a region whose boundaries are so much debated that no two international authorities agree. The countries that form the Middle East are not only loosely defined but hugely diverse and in many aspects unequal.
